These are probably the most comfortable shoes I have owned in a long time. I work in a warehouse so my shoes do not last long and my legs always hurt. However these are comfortable and durable. Ladies if you are like me and a half size order one size up. Doc. Martens may be a little more expensive but they are worth the investment.

I love the shoes! I like the look and style. I love that they make me seem taller than I really am;) I have always owned a pair of Dr. Martins, they are very comfortable and last forever…well for a very long time anyway(that is unless the dog eats them). My last pair lasted about three years and I worked in a dog bathing salon where my shoes were always wet, I also have horses and my shoes were often covered in mud and water along with the things that drop out of the back end of a horse hahaha! And they are still usable! But, it was time for a new pair that don’t smell like a barn! I am however disappointed that they were made in China, I would gladly pay more for a good pair of Dr. Martins that were made in the USA.

About Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor s immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany.

By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

Customer Review: NOT FOR WORK!!
Yes they have a steal toe but they have a tag on them that reads
“IMPORTANT WARNING
Theae shoes (boots) have been designed and manufactured as, and, for use as FASHION FOOTWEAR ONLY. They are not for use as safety footwear, and should not under any circumstances be worn as safety footwear. ..”
A warning is also stitched into the inside of the boot near the heal that reads “NON-SAFTY FOOTEAR”
I am a little let down that this fact is not listed in the products description. The reason I purchased these boots for work and they do not meet the required safety standard.

Customer Review: So beautiful it hurts!!
I am a die hard Dr. Martens fan. Bought my first pair in London over 25 years ago. They are easily the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. I love the sizing too. I’m a UK 6, plain and simple. The size doesn’t vary with the styles which is not often the case and I can always wear them straight out of the box without pain or blisters. I was estatic to find a patent leather (my favorite shoe finish), Mary Jane (my favorite style) combined by my favorite shoe manufacturer. I normally wait for everything to go on sale but with these babies I couldn’t wait! When they came, I slipped my foot in (with normal argyle socks) and yelped in pain!!!! The shoe is cut so incredibly high at the ankle (see picture) that it cut straight into the bottom of my ankle and actually drew blood!!! Not put off however, I bought some Dr. Scholl’s heel inserts (to lift my heel/ankle a bit I thought) and also put on some padded socks to try them on again. It helped somewhat but after considering that I bought this style to wear with skirts/dresses and realizing that padded socks with tights would just look dumb I threw in the towel and mailed them back. I can’t for the life of me understand what the designers were thinking. I have perfectly normal US size 8 feet. Not wide, not narrow…boringly normal. I’d love to hear from others if they experienced the same pain I did. Besides that, they are incredibly beautiful. I love the round toe. The footbed is wonderfully paddded and again the sizing is right on. Dr. Martens…I BEG you to redesign this incredible shoe. Cut the ankle a teeny bit lower and offer them in Red patent leather too!!
